FAQs - What you need to know about online fire training in Houston.

Texas Commission on Fire Protection regulates our online firefighter training program. We are based out of Houston, Texas and offer basic firefighter training to the surrounds areas.

Basic Structural Firefighting classes are scheduled every 12 weeks. Contact FAO for details on new class dates and enrollment options.

We do not offer EMT or any medical-based classes. You do not have to be an EMT to go to fire school; you can get EMT Certified after.

There are a variety of EMS Schools that are available online and onsite. Two years after receiving your TCFP Certificate of Completion, you must apply for TCFP Fire Certification. When you apply for your fire certification, one of the requirements is to have ECA or higher medical certification in order to be certified as a basic structural firefighter. EMT school is about as long but can be longer than fire school. EMT School Skills and Clinicals are either ride-a-long on ambulance or hospital rotation.

Fire Academy Online is not a college. We are a trade school. The articulation Agreement with Columbia Southern University offers college credit to FAO students.

Fire Academy Online is only a trade school and does not offer a recognized Financial Aid program. We offer a payment plan with $1000 down and the remainder due by the 10th week of the course. Contact FAO for details.

Unfortunately, Fire Academy Online is not set up to accept VA Benefits. However, we can offer veterans $500 deposits to start with the remainder of the balance due by the 10th week. Contact FAO for details.  

Being a firefighter requires a high level of physical fitness. Our firefighters participate in regular fitness training to ensure they are prepared for the job's physical demands.
